Jorge Barnett Lawton is Managing Director of the Georgia Tech Panama Logistics Innovation & Research Center, a joint initiative of the Government of Panama and the Georgia Institute of Technology, which serves as a technical advisor to the Logistics Cabinet of the Republic of Panama. As part of this institution based in Panama City, he leads local and regional projects related to the advancement of logistics and transportation, aiming to reinforce Panama's position as a global maritime, logistics and trade hub. Prior to joining the Center, he held positions in the private sector for nearly a decade, with roles in manufacturing, project, technology and supply chain management. He has also held various research and academic appointments in Spain, Argentina, Mexico and Panama.
He is a graduate of the Technological University of Panama and the Georgia Institute of Technology, and holds a doctoral degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program in Spain, with a research focus on location analysis and supply chain network design.
